General Manager, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC)
Kym Guesdon, General Manager, of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre has been a highly effective senior executive at BCEC for more than 27 years.
Previously in a dual role as Group HR Director for ASM Global (APAC) and the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Kym provided strategic industrial relations advice and support for the venues and their staff.
Only the second person to hold the position of General Manager in the Centre’s 30 year history, Kym played a critical role successfully steering the Centre through the COVID-19 Pandemic, both operationally and ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of staff during that time.
As General Manager of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Kym is responsible for leadership and the welfare of 682 staff members.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre enjoys a global reputation, voted the World’s Best Convention Centre and consistently represented at the top of world venue rankings, by the International Association of Congress Centres.
Kym says her main role as General Manager is to continue enabling the successful delivery of events in partnership with the BCEC Team, maintaining the Centre’s role as the major driver of Business Events to Brisbane and Queensland.
As General Manager, Kym takes the lead in the Centre’s role as a key stakeholder in the leadup to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games in a bid to maximise the opportunities of Brisbane’s status as an Olympic host city in attracting events from around the world and creating a lasting legacy for the city of Brisbane.
